We have heard rumours the Council of Governors is calling upon president Uhuru Muigai Kenya to put the nation under lockdown as we plan for the festivities better known as Christmas.
This time round most of Xmas celebrations have to be virtual. This is a situation where you cook you chicken and eat it in front of a camera and share the resulting video with family and loved ones. They also do the same over WhatsApp. For those who are more sophisticated it will happen on zoom, Skype or stream live on social media.
That effectively created nicknames for our Christmas – cyber Christmas or virtual Christmas.
The pandemic has forced all humanity to accept rapid technological changes without questioning or complaints.
When I think of it, I see it like a miracle. For instance, just one year ago no one will buy the idea of being asked to attend the church service virtually! Now it is a norm, many serious religious organizations are investing more and more resources on ICT and human resources with advanced communication capabilities and skills.
A part from understanding the Bible or Koran, religious leaders are now required to understand how to effectively use social media platforms to share regions teachings with the believers.
