Chinese ambassador to Israel, Du Wei, was found dead in his apartment in Herzliya, north of Tel Aviv on Sunday Morning.
His death comes days after US secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Jerusalem and openly criticized China’s actions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mr Pompeo also called on Israeli leaders to stop signing major infrastructure and communication deals with Chinese companies during his visit.
Officials say Israeli police have launched investigations.
Ambassador Du Wei assumed his role in Israel in February, according to the embassy’s webpage, as the coronavirus was sweeping across the globe. Mr Du previously served as envoy to Ukraine.
Ambassador Du Wei was married with one son.
