Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech has been voted Ajax’s player of the season for the third time in a row.
Ziyech has contributed 130 goals in 165 games during his four years with Ajax and will join Chelsea in July after agreeing a £37.4M move in February.
The Dutch Eredivisie season was cancelled last month due to the global coronavirus pandemic, ending hopes of return to football in the Netherlands until next season.
Ajax were on top of the Eredivisie table when the season was cancelled with 9 rounds of fixtures remaining, but the decision to end the season denied the leaders the title. The Moroccan didn’t have a proper chance to say a proper farewell to fans and teammates.
He, however, received his farewell through a montage video, which he watched at an Amsterdam theatre, before getting his hands on the award.

The award was first given out in 1993, but no player has ever won it more than twice. Other double winners include; Cristian Chivu, Maarten Stekelenburg, Jasper Cillessen, and Luis Suárez.
