Cadiz have been promoted to the Spanish top-flight after third-placed Real Zaragoza failed to beat Real Oviedo on Sunday.

The Andalusian club, who were last promoted to the La Liga in 2005 but were relegated the following year, lead the standings on 69 points after 40 games. Huesca are second with 64 and Zaragoza are third with 62.

Cadiz lost 1-0 at home to Fuenlabrada on Saturday, missing a chance to ascend from Segunda Division.

But Real Oviedo did the job for Cadiz, running into a four-goal lead before the home side struck twice in the stoppage time.

Alvaro Cervera’s side narrowly missed out on a play-off spot last season but are now on the brink of clinching the Segunda title.

Huesca are in pole position to secure the second automatic promotion place, with the Aragonese side two points clear of the play-off places.

The final promotion spot is still to be decided, with Real Zaragoza, Almeria, Girona and Fuenlabrada making up the top six as it stands.
