Busia outgoing Governor, Sospeter Ojaamong, has conceded defeat after losing Member of parliament race under Orange Democratic Party (ODM) ticket. Ojaamong was among the contesters for Teso South.
Sospeter Ojaamong congratulated his opponents especially Paul Otuoma, who is leading the polls and also thanked supporters for the far he has come.
“The elections are over, but our principles will endure for generations. To my family, friends, team, and campaigners, Thank you for the unwavering support during my reign and campaign period. I am inspired and humbled by your support,” he wrote on social media.
“Your time, energy, resources and prayers will not go unnoticed. It was a great honor to meet and interact with many of you. You all did your best. The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die. Congratulations to you all in your various victories in this election,” he added.
Sospeter Ojaamong also urged Otuoma to serve those who voted for him, including those who did not.

In due course I will invite you to the office of the governor for the purposes of familiarization and assumption of office under our Constitution and county government act,” Sospeter Ojaamong urged Otuoma.
“The burdens you now shoulder are great but often exaggerated. The sheer joy of doing what you believe is right is inexpressible. Very few will have the honor of knowing the responsibility you now feel. Very few know the excitement of the moment and challenges you will face,” he added.
