The German Football League (DFL) has extended the suspension of Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga until April 30th due to Coronavirus.
Football in Germany was to resume in April 2nd in line with the rest of Europe’s so called ‘big five leagues’.
However, with COVID – 19 spreading, the DFL has reviewed its stance and ruled out return of football in Germany before April 30th.
A statement read: ‘’The presidium of the DFL is aware of the scenarios and options for actions also depend on external factors, on the development of which the DFL and the clubs have only limited or no influence at all: among other things, the further spread of the virus and the assessment of the situation by politics.
‘’Against this background, the presidium of the General Assembly will recommend a further suspension of the game operations in Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga until at least April 30th.
More than 31,000 cases of Coronavirus have already been reported in Germany with 133 deaths connected with the virus.
