British Sailor intentionally sank boat to kill his wife while on honeymoon (new photos)
New images have emerged indicating that the British Sailor had killed his wife while they were on honeymoon. This was just 3 months after they wedded. However, the man claimed that it was an accident.
The British Sailor, Lewis Bennett, denied in 2018 that he had intentionally killed his wife Isabella Hellmann. Initially, he claimed that she had just gone missing at sea in the Caribbean back in April, 2017.
His wife’s family did not believe his story and therefore they filed a case against him for killing Isabella Hellmann.
After denying the claims, he later admitted that he had killed his wife hence he subsequently pleaded guilty for one count of manslaughter.
Now new images have emerged showing how he caused the death and made it appear that she was involved in a tragic accident at sea according to prosecutors.
Lewis Bennet intentionally sank the 37-foot catamaran back on 15 May, 2017. He achieved this by opening the escape hatches and also causing damage to its two hulls. Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has also revealed that Bennett also opened the ship’s portholes which are located below the water line.
One of the photos released by the US Coast Guard shows a huge hole on the side of the boat which would have let in the water and subsequently sank it.
Prosecutors have alleged that Bennet wanted to escape the strained marriage and inherit her home as well as money through killing her.
Ms Hellmann’s body has never been retrieved from the open sea.
