Kenya Revenue Authority has cleared gaming firm Betway. Betway was one of the betting firms that had its license withdrawn. Betway will now be issued with an operating license from the Betting and Licensing Board to resume its operations. There are new rules that gaming firms will have to comply with.
Betway will be deducting 20% withholding tax from winnings in accordance with the law. This will be displayed clearly in its customers’ betslips.
Betway said in a statement after their reinstatement that they remain committed to developing sports across different sports disciplines such as football, golf, Basketball and volleyball. Betway has recently been sponsoring Kenyan Premier League side Mathare united. They have also been making cash injections towards training of new coaches and Upgrading of stadiums and pitches.
