Bayer Leverkusen have signed right-back Santiago Arias from La Liga side Atletico Madrid on an initial loan with an option of a permanent deal at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old struggled for game time at Atletico last season, making only 18 appearances in the 2019-20 season.
Arias becomes Leverkusen’s second signing of the window following the arrival of Patrick Schick from AS Roma.
Arias joined Atletico in 2018 from PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where he had played for five years in the Eredivisie. The right-sided defender has also made 53 international appearances for Colombia.
