FC Barcelona have sacked manager Quique Setien after his side suffered an 8-2 loss in the hands of Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.

The former Real Betis manager was appointed in January after the club parted ways with Ernesto Valverde.

The 61-year-old took charge of 25 matches.

Setien amassed 16 wins, four draws and five defeats during his time with the Catalans.

Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman is set to be named as the next Barcelona head coach.

Koeman played for Barcelona between 1989 and 1995.

“The Board of Directors have agreed that Quique Setien is no longer the first-team coach,” the club said in a statement.

“This is the first decision within a wider restructuring of the first team which will be agreed between the current technical secretary and the new coach, who will be announced in the coming days.”
