Barcelona have confirmed that defender Samuel Umtiti tested positive for coronavirus.
The French defender’s status was announced after tests were carried out on Thursday.
Umtiti was asymptomatic and is now self-isolating at home.
The 26-year-old centre-back missed Barca’s Champions League quarter-final clash against Bayern Munich on Friday due to injury.
Barcelona said in a statement: ‘’After PCR tests carried out on Thursday, the first-team player Samuel Umtiti has tested positive for COVID-19.
‘’The player is asymptomatic, is in good health and isolating at home.
‘’The club has informed relevant sporting and health authorities, as well as tracing all the people who have had contact with the player so that they can undergo corresponding PCR tests.’’
Barcelona lost 8-2 to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter final staged in Lisbon.
