Zara Kay, 28, an Australian women’s rights activist was arrested and held under police custody for 32 hours starting 28 December, 2020 and her passport was confiscated. 

She faced charges including publishing a social media post critical of President of Tanzania. She questioned how the president handled Covid-19 in the East African country. 

Zara Kay is the founder of Faithless Hijabi, a group that provides support for women who are ostracized or face violence for questioning or leaving Islam.
