Aston Villa won their first Premier League match this season by beating Everton 2-0 at the Villa Park on Friday night. Goals from new signing Wesley in the 22nd minute and Anwar El Ghazi in the 90th minute ensured the win at the Villa Park.
Wesley is a club record signing from Belgian Club Bruges. He was signed for £22M. He slotted in Jota’s pass to score Aston Villa’s first goal of the match. Anwar El Ghazi converted McGinn’s pass in the 90th minute from six yards to score the second goal for Aston Villa.
Everton players Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott had chances to score for Everton but they did not utilize their chances.
The win lifts Aston Villa to 11th place at least for some time with three points. Aston Villa were promoted to the Premier League last season after winning the Championship Playoffs.
It was Everton’s first loss of the season and the Merseyside club are now placed 9th in the Premier League table with four points.
