Lesotho is the last African country to join others with positive cases of coronavirus. Now all the 54 African countries are responding to positive cases of Coronavirus.
The positive case report is a Lesotho national who is a student in Saudi Arabia.
On 9 May 2020, the Ministry [of Health] conducted 81 tests for Covid-19 from travelers from South Africa and Saudi Arabia.
On 11 May 2020 the samples were shipped to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) in South Africa and results were obtained on 12 May 2020. Eighty people tested negative for Covid-19 while one tested positive.
Lesotho reported that they sent 597 samples to South Africa for testing.
Lesotho currently has 148 beds only at its quarantine facility hence it is ill-prepared for increased cases of Covid-19.
