Former Arsenal and AS Monaco manager Arsene Wenger is returning to football as FIFA’s new chief of global development.
A week ago it was reported that German Champions Bayern Munich had approached Arsene Wenger about the vacant head coach job.
Arsene Wenger has been out of job since leaving Arsenal in 2018 where he won 3 Premier League titles and 7 FA cups in 22 years.
The 70 year old Frenchman will oversee the rules making panel known as IFAB (International Football Association Board), coaching programs and technical analysis of matches at FIFA tournaments.
Arsene Wenger replaces Marco Van Basten who was FIFA’s technical director until October 2018.
‘’I very much look forward to taking on this extremely important challenge. ’’ Said Arsene Wenger.
‘’Not only because I have always been interested in analyzing football from a broader perspective but also because FIFA’s mission as world football’s governing body is truly global.’’ He added.
