Arsenal are in talks over making Dani Ceballos’ loan switch from Real Madrid permanent.
The Spanish midfielder had his season interrupted by a hamstring injury but has started seven of Arsenal’s previous Premier League games.
Ceballos, 23, is thriving in midfield under Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners will welcome Leicester City in Premier League action on Tuesday night.
They are hoping to qualify for the Champions League next season.A strong finish could attract Ceballos to remain at the Emirates.
Arteta said: ‘’Yeah, we are talking to [Real Madrid],’’
‘’Obviously, we don’t own the player, it is not in our hands. We need to have a communication and see what we can do.’’
Ceballos scored a stoppage time winner against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane to send the Gunners into FA Cup semi-final.
Arsenal will play against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final on July 18.
