According to Kisumu County CIDP 2018-2022, land is the most important natural resource that the county is endowed with.
Additional facts are as listed below:
- 50% of Kisumu land is underutilized especially in the rural area
- Most of the land has not been registered which hinders people from asserting their rights over land.
- Only 61.3% of land has title deeds
- 40% of Kisumu City residents live in informal settlements. Hence, the county is considering of urban renewal in Arina, Argwings Kodhek, Lumumba, Ondiek and Mosque, Kibuye, Pembe Tatu, Kaloleni and Nubian.
