Amber Heard is allegedly ‘broke’ due to increasing legal fees associated with the shocking defamation trial and can’t pay he ex-hubby $10 million in damages.

The high profile trial which was televised ended this week when a seven-person jury found that Heard and Depp had defamed each other. However, they ruled in favour of Depp.

The trial took six weeks to conclude. It was full of claims and counter claims of domestic abuse and Depp was awarded USD$ 10.35 million in damages while Heard was awarded $2 million.

Heard’s lawyer sad that the client won’t be able to pay. She added that Heard will appeal the verdict.

According to the Celebrity Net Worth website, Heard’s net worth is estimated to be between $1.5 and $2.5 million.  This is too little compared to what she owes Depp following the verdict.

Some pundits have indicated that Heard was in the past used to lavish spending on wine, travel, gifts and clothes now she is hurting for cash.

Depp, 58, celebrated the split verdict in the case as a victory while Heard said that she was heartbroken.

Depp sued Heard over a newspaper article she published on the Washington Post in Dec 2018 where she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”

Depp sued Heard even if he was not named in the article for implying that he was a domestic abuser and sought $50 million in damages.

Later Heard countersued for $100 million saying that she was defamed by statement made by Depp’s lawyer, Adam Waldman, who told the Daily Mail her abuse claims were a “hoax.”

“A number of things were allowed in this court that should not have been allowed, and it caused the jury to be confused,” she said.

“We had an enormous amount of evidence that was suppressed in this case that was in the UK case,” Heard’s lawyer said.

“In the UK case when it came in, Amber won, Mr. Depp lost.”

The lawyer said that the ruling is bad for Me Too movement and it will discourage women from reporting sexual abuse and harassment.

“Unless you pull out your phone and you video your spouse or your significant other beating you, effectively you won’t be believed.”

“One of the first things she said is that, ‘I am so sorry to all those women out there’,” she said. “This is a setback for all women in and outside the courtroom, and she feels the burden of that.”

“I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband,” she said.

“The jury gave me my life back”. “The best is yet to come and a new chapter has finally begun,” Depp said in a statement.
