Alexander Twilight was the first African American to earn a bachelor’s degree. He earned his bachelors’ degree from Middlebury College in 1823.
He served as an educator, scholar and preacher. However, he was always marked as white in American census.
Alexander was born on September 23, 1795 as the third child of six children.
