A man from Trinidad went an extra mile to purchase a $500 second-hand typewriter and donated it to the Licensing Office.
The seller of the typewriter had advertised it on Facebook for sometime for sale until a young man contacted him with an offer to buy the device.
The young man had been trying to get his tax badge since December but in vain. Every time, he is told that the typewriter is not working. He had bought a maxi taxi and can’t use it because he was waiting for his badge.
The licensing started operating under an appointment system. That is appointment to pay and appointment to collect badges. When the young man’s day to collect the badge he was told that the typewriter is not working for over a week.
The News Day article noted that the licensing officials agreed that if they get a typewriter, they will issue the taxi badges.
When the young man arrives, he says “You ever heard of a private person buying a typewriter for the State?”
He paid and left. Later he called twice to find out how the typewriter worked.
The man later told the media that it usually takes at least 3 weeks to receive a new typewriter after placing an order.
