Sharing is Caring

One of the students of a Kindergarten class came to school with Jose Cuervo’s ready-to-drink margaritas and the kindergarteners thought it was juice. After the drink, one of the kids felt a “little dizzy” and “felty woozy” after taking four or five sips.

This was reported by Fox 2 Detroit. The incident happened at Grand River Academy in Livonia.

The kindergarteners had no idea that they were consuming tequila, they thought it was juice.

However, the one who brought it to school knew it was an alcoholic drink.

“The girl poured it in her cup and she drank it and the girl ended up telling her what it is, and she went and told the teacher there is liquor in this cup, and the teacher gave her a funny face,” Dominique Zanders, a mother of one of the kindergartners, told Fox 2 Detroit.

The school released a statement and stated that in response they called poison control when they learnt that children had been drinking tequila.

“While we try to keep an eye on everything our students bring to school, that’s simply not possible,” the school said in its statement.

“It’s unfortunate that these types of adult beverages can be easily mistaken for child-friendly drinks.”

After the incident, parents were immediately notified and told that the pupils were okay.

Grand River Academy Livonia did not immediately respond to media inquiries.
