Tsunami waves reaching 100 ft

Experts believe that there is 80% chance of a magnitude 9 tremor occurring in Nankai Trough off Japan’s Pacific Coast within the next 30 years.

The Nankai Trough is a deep ocean trench which is hit by a megaquake once every 100 to 200 years.

The disaster will cause damage valued at $1.44 trillion and create 12.3 million evacuees.

Japan sits on Pacific Ring of Fire which is a belt of intense seismic activity. One of the most dangerous section is called Nankai Trough which produces megaquakes once every 100 – 200 years.
