Over 2.6 million plastic surgery operations were performed in Iran in 2023. Rhinoplasty was the most common procedure in Iran.
The procedure is aimed at smoothing the bump in what Iranians refer to as “Persian nose”.
Since Iranian women are required to cover their hair and dress modestly, the beauty industry has focused on the face.
Rhinoplasty also known as ‘nose job’ is expected to make a big difference.
“After the operation, not only have I earned myself a modelling job with better social standing but I’m also earning three times more and I’m more respected by clients,” Azadeh said.
In Tehran and other cities across Iran there are billboards advertising beauty clinics as well as cosmetic procedures which promise sculpted noses, perfect teeth and smooth skin.
Rhinoplasty surgeon Hamidreza Hosnani said that it is becoming a cultural trend in Iran.
Basic rhinoplasty in Iran costs $1000 which is cheaper that doing it in other countries.
Iran is known for their high quality cosmetic surgery clinics and a great destination for foreign seeking affordable surgery.
That notwithstanding, there is a risk considering that Iran government has in the past warned about illegal clinics offering cosmetic surgery. On November 7 three women died during cosmetic surgery according to Iran Ministry of Health.
