Hypersonic jet named Stargazer is poised to transport passenger from London to New York in one hour. This jet will travel at hypersonic speeds of 4,600 mph. That will be faster than concorde.
It sounds too good to be true. The travel across the Atlantic will be shortened 8 times. The jet is being constructed by an aerospace company known as Venus based in Texas The plane will be called Stargazer.
The jet will travel at a speed five times the speed of sound. The jet will be sold at $33 million. Venus Aerospace shared details of the engine which will power Stargraze at the Up Summit in Bentonville.
The jet engine will be named Venus Detonation Ramjet 2000 lb Trust Engine or simply VDR2. The founder of Venus Aerospace, Andrew Duggleby stated that engine will make it possible to enjoy high-speed flights.
‘This engine makes the hypersonic economy a reality,’ said Andrew Duggleby.
Venus Aerospace has already released images of Stargazer but it is not clear how closer they are in building a prototype. The jet will take off using normal jet engines but once it achieves the needed altitude, it switches to VDR2 engine.
When ready for commercial use, the VDR2 engine will also power drones as well as Stargazer. The company has raised $33 million towards building of the jet.
Concorde was retired 20 years ago. The plane flew at an altitude of 60,000 feet above sea level.
The Stargazer will fly at 110,000 feet. It will be the fastest and will fly highest altitude from London to New York.
