Rigathi Gachagua Impeachment Motion was tabled by the member of parliament for Kibwezi West Constituency, Hon. Eckomas Mwengi Mutuse.
The mover of the motion has tabled the motion based on 10 grounds. First, Rigathi Gachagua, has for the past two years amassed a property portfolio valued at Ksh. 5.2 billion which is suspected to be proceeds of money laundering and corruption.
“The value of the property and wealth that Gachagua has acquired over the last two years is incompatible with his known legitimate income of about Sh12 million per annum,” the motion reads in part.
The motion alleges that Rigathi Gachagua has used his wife, children and family members to amass the large wealth.
A total of 22 companies associated with the deputy president and his family are listed in the impeachment motion. Some of the companies mentioned in the impeachment motion include:
