Frank Gardner, BBC journalist lost both his legs during a war reporting attack.
He needed to use a toilet while on board LOT Polish Airlines but there were no wheelchairs on board.
Hence, he had to crawl from his seat to the toilet and back across the cabin floor.
Frank Gardner wrote on X:
“Wow. It’s 2024 and I’ve to crawl along the floor of this LOT Polish Airline to get to the toilet during flight back from Warsaw as ‘we don’t have onboard wheelchairs. It’s airline policy. If you’re disabled and you can’t walk, this is just discriminatory,” he wrote.
In 2004, he was shot 6 times at close range while covering war in Saudi Arabia. He was left severely injured and dependent on a wheelchair.
Frank Gardner is the author of books such as ‘Far Horizons’, ‘Blood and Sand’ and ‘Crisis’ among others.
