You cannot tax your nation to prosperity – that is what Kenyans are telling President William Ruto. Protesters have filled the streets of various urban areas in Kenya to oppose the Finance Bill 2024/2025.

Kisii protests

Kenyans were angered by some tax proposals such as 2.5% motor vehicle circulation  tax, 16% Value Added Tax on bread and Eco Levy tax as well as giving KRA access to Kenyans MPESA and bank accounts in the name of catching tax evaders.
