The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) has released a report which warns of the problem of murder/killings of human rights defenders.
A total of 126 HRDs were killed in Latin America in 2023 alone out of which 70 HRDs were killed in Colombia.
Colombia faces problems such as drug production and trafficking such as marijuana and coca. There are several drug cartels. These groups pose danger for activists and social leaders in the country.
