Doctors Promise “Not to Do Harm”
In the United Kingdom, the National Health Service (NHS) has released a ‘memo’ that patients who smoke or are obese will be prevented from receiving non-urgent surgeries unless they stop smoking or work on losing their weight. This is happening despite the doctors promise not to do harm.
This is happening in a case where UK is experiencing increasing demand for health services as a result of a large aging population.
