A total of 31 children abducted from Ukraine and taken to Russia have been returned. They were taken to Russia illegally.
The children had been taken from north eastern region of Kharkiv as well as the southern region of Kherson.
This information was revealed by Save Ukraine which fights illegal deportations of Ukrainian children to Russian territories.
“Today we are welcoming home 31 more children who have been illegally taken by Russian from occupied territories,” Mykola Kuleba, head of the Save Ukraine charity organization.
The children were seen carrying bags and suitcases as they crossed the border on foot and later bordered a bus. Mykola Kuleba praised the “heroic mothers” who had travelled under the “most difficult” of the charity’s rescue missions to date.
More than 16,000 Ukrainian children have so far been deported to Russia invasion launched on 24 February, 2022. Majority of the children were placed under foster homes and institutions.
Russia denies the allegations and instead says that they have saved the Ukrainian children from war.
Weeks ago, the International Criminal Court, announced an arrest warrant for President of Russia, Vladimir Putin based on unlawfully deporting Ukrainian children.
ICC also issued an arrest warrant against Maria Lvova-Belova- the presidential commissioner for children’s rights in Russia on similar charges.
