Wafula Chebukati, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson, has said that the four commissioners who rejected the presidential results that declared William Ruto as the president elect were pushing for a poll re-run.
According to Wafula Chebukati, the commissioners wanted him to moderate the results so that no presidential candidate could attain the 50+1% and hence force the nation to repeat the elections.
“During a briefing meeting held on August 15 at around 3.00pm before the final declaration of the presidential election results, the four commissioners, Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Julius Nyangaya and Irene Masit demanded that the chairperson moderates the results for the purpose of forcing an election rerun contrary to their oath of office,” Wafula Chebukati said.

President-Elect William Ruto Claims To Include All Kenyans In His Government
From the Kenyan constitution that was implemented in 2010, for one to be declared a president-elect, he or she should reach the minimum of 50+1% of the total votes cast.
When Wafula Chebukati refused to listen to their claims, the four commissioners declined to be part of the declaration of William Ruto as the president-elect.
They held a press conference at Serena Hotel where they claimed the opaque nature of the independent commission.
The four commissioners later released a statement indicating that the presidential results had 0.01% error. Converting the error with regard to total votes cast, it yielded up to142,000 votes.
The four commissioners led by Cherera, said that the error could bring a huge impact on the presidential results. William Ruto had 50.49% while his close competitor Raila Odinga had 48% of total votes.
Raila Odinga, was the presidential candidate from the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition and has not conceded defeat.
The Azimio coalition led by Odinga held a press briefing and outlined that they will challenge the presidential result using the channels available.
