Sharing is Caring

In the port of Odesa, Ukraine, the first ship carrying grains left in Monday morning for Lebanon. The ship was carrying over 26,000 tons of corn.

This comes after the world has faced a huge food crisis. Russia invaded Ukraine about five months ago which has led to increase in cost of living and suffering.

Ukraine is one of the greatest world producers of food substance and due to Russia blocking Ukrainian exports, no shipments could be made to the rest of the world.

“Unlocking ports will provide at least $1 billion in foreign exchange revenue to the economy and an opportunity for the agricultural sector to plan for next year,” Alexander Kubrakov, the Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure said.

Ukraine is now expected to supply 22 million tons of grain to the rest of the world. This will enable availability of food to vulnerable and developing nations.
