Dr. Mulatu Teshome, the former Ethiopian President has been appointed by the Intergovernmental Authority and Development (IGAD) to lead election observing mission in Kenya.
The elections are set to take place on August 9th 2022. It was the Independent Electoral Commission and Boundaries (IEBC) that invited the IGAD to monitor the elections. IGAD is an organisation that comprises of the East African countries.
“The regional organization is pleased to continue to work with the people of Kenya, electoral institution, political leaders, and other observer missions to advance the democratization process,” Dr. Workneh, the Executive Secretary of IGAD said.
“We are also honored that Dr. Mulatu Teshome will lead the IGAD election observer mission,” the executive Secretary added.
IGAD is made up of eight member states that include Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda.
