Police in Bungoma are looking for Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa for branding CDF vehicle with UDA colors complete with his portrait.
The police raided the home of Didimus Barasa and recovered the motor vehicle.
The police revealed that the vehicle’s original number plates were replaced to hide the fact that it is a government car.
According to Kimilili Sub-County police boss, the vehicle’s original registration number is GK948J.
The vehicle was recovered from the Didimus Barasa’s home at Nasianda village in Bungoma.

It was fitted with a new registration number KBS709D.
“We conducted a joint operation involving the Government Check Unit officers from Nairobi, Serious Crimes personnel, DCI, the contingent invaded the lawmaker’s homestead following extensive investigations and managed to recover the vehicle which was towed to Kimilili Police Station then Bungoma and later Nairobi,” said the sub-county police commander.
According to the Sub-County commander, the police responded after a tipoff from the members of the public who saw the vehicle in the Didimus Barasa’s campaign trail.
“It is against the law to use government vehicles for personal engagements including campaigns, a manhunt has been launched for the lawmaker and we shall press charges against him once he is arrested.”
“We are in communication with NTSA to establish whether Barasa had changed the vehicle ownership into his name.
Didmus Barasa stated that he had already written a statement with the police but he did not say which police station. He also said that the vehicle belongs to the NGCDF but noted that it was painted in UDA colors by mistake. He said that the person who was asked to brand the vehicle adding that whoever was branding was instructed to display complete CDF projects on it and not party colors.
