Amir Khan has announced his retirement from boxing at the age of 35.
Khan is from Bolton in United Kingdom. He announced the end of his career in boxing having won the Olympic Silver medal before he turned professional and won the unified world champion title. He was known as UK’s most exciting fighters.
Khan became a star when he won silver medal at Athena in 2004 at age 17.
One year later he won his first title after beating Kotelnik in Manchester aged 22.
He later added the IBF title to his collection and was later defeated by Lamont Peterson. Later on, he was reinstated as champion after Peterson failed a drug test.
However, Khan faced another challenge after a knockout defeat to Danny Garcia back in 2011.
During his career, since 2005 when he turned professional boxer, Khan has won a record 34 challenges and lost six.
‘It’s time to hang up my gloves. I feel blessed to have had such an amazing career that has spanned over 27 years,’ he wrote on Twitter on May 13.
‘I want to say a heartfelt thanks and to the incredible teams I have worked with and to my family, friends and fans for the love and support they have shown me.’
