In many counties we have seen stalled, incomplete or shoddily done projects.
In this article we are looking into a shoddily done public project by the name Busibwabo bridge in Busia County.
The bridge connects Busibwabo ward and Matayos South ward. Some observers feel that bridges collapse during electioneering campaigns. This is in reference to Sigiri bridge which collapse in 2017.
The construction project was allocated Ksh. 14 million in Busia’s supplementary budget for Fiscal year 2021/2022. It was allocated Ksh. 4 million in a revised budget.
The bridge collapsed just one day after it was installed.
The project is expected to be allocated Ksh. 16.9 million in the upcoming budget for fiscal year 2023/2024.
