Sharing is Caring

As a result of Covid-19 and Brexit, the United Kingdom is facing a shortage of truck drivers. The problem started when Covid-19 pandemic set in and driving tests were stopped due to Covid-19.

Currently, United Kingdom has a shortage of 90,000 drivers out of which 12500 were EU nationals who left the country upon BREXIT.

Due to the shortage of drivers to move goods around the country, now local supermarkets are experiencing empty shelves.

There still more shortages around Europe. Poland has a driver shortage of 123,000 while Germany has a shortage of 76,000 truck drivers.

United Kingdom is looking into changing the law to allow drivers from other European countries to do delivery. Meanwhile, the short term option is to draft the army to do the delivery of goods to ensure Christmas is not affected.
