A total of 44 Congolese and other international organizations have written a letter to South Korea, France, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany and Norway, EU Commission and Ministers of Development, Environment and Forests protesting the lifting of the ban on logging concessions in DRC.
They stated that this lifting of the ban will affect an area of tropical forest the size of France.
The authors of the letter further argue that this action may increase future outbreaks of zoonotic diseases such as Covid-19 and Ebola.
