A man who chopped off his step-daughter’s dead using a machete and left her body on the highway has finally been sentenced to 54 years in prison.
This grave crime happened on 13 October in Pindamonhangaba City, South east Brazil. Diogo da Silva Leite, took a walk with the child and retuned home without her. He told his partner that the girl had been taken away while they were out for a walk.
Media reported that Diogo claimed that he had left the girl with a stranger to visit a bathroom and upon return the stranger had kidnapped the girl.
Initially Diogo denied killing his stepdaughter Maria Clara and claimed that she had been kidnapped but later confessed after CCTV footage contradicted his version of the story.
Police were suspicious right from the beginning, however after serious interrogation he finally admitted having killed her by cutting the head using a panga. He then left the body at a wooded area beside a highway in the Taubate City.
