Latest reports coming from South Africa, is that 120 pharmacies looted in the two provinces of Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal.
Patients with chronic conditions have been left desperate following the plundering of the pharmacies.
According to the South African Pharmacy Council, among the pharmacies looted were two wholesalers. They also added that patients’ medical records were destroyed during the looting.
“This is a big concern to all of us. I think, the advice to give to the members of the public, never use medicine that does not come from legitimate sources, from a pharmacy, or any of the healthcare professionals,” SA Pharmacy Council CEO Vincent Tlala said.
