Sharing is Caring

Crown Prince Hamzah, half-brother to King Abdullah II of Jordan has been placed under house arrest for speaking out against incompetence and corruption according to senior royals.

However, authorities in Jordan released a statement indicating that the former crown prince had ‘malicious plot’ to destabilize the kingdom.

United States of America and Arab governments sided with the king saying that the country is important in the volatile region.

In his criticism, Crown Prince Hamzah did not name the king. However, King Abdullah II reacted strongly accusing the Crown Prince Hamzah of serious crimes and putting him under house arrest.

King Abdalla II and Crown Prince Hamzah are both sons of King Hussein who died over 20 years ago.

Abdalla ascended to the throne in 1999 and named Hamza as a crown Prince. He revoked the titled half a decade later.

Crown Prince Hamzah is very popular in Jordan. He is seen as modest and pious. Jordan is a country with a population of 10 million people.

Pundits have already indicated that the house arrest is likely to strengthen the popularity of Prince Hamza.
