A Task force was put in place to investigate crimes committed by TPLF during its 27 years in power and also to facilitate the confiscation of the proceeds of crime.
Key findings of the report:
a) TPLF planned to forcefully control the central government within 3 months;
b) The group had mobilized 170,000 troops to wedge war against the federal government forces;
c) TPLF Owned EFFORT companies Sur Construction, Mesfin Industrial Engineering and Mesobo assisted in building fortresses;
d) TPLF tried to impersonate the federal government by declaring a state of emergency, establishing defense council and selling bonds which are powers of the federal government only;
TPLF commited crimes among them, high treason (in violation of Article 248 of the Criminal Code), impairment of the defense power of the state (in violation of Article 247 of the Criminal Code) are the main ones,” the task force reported.
