In Nashville Tennessee, a man was shot and killed after after a “prank robbery” for YouTube video went awfully wrong on Friday.
According to a statement released on Saturday, the Metro Nashville Police Department are investigating the claim of self-defense during the shooting.
Timothy Wilks, 20, was shot and killed at the parking lot of Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park in Nashville around 9:20 p.m. CST. Upon arrival of officers at the scene, David Starnes Jr, 23, accepted that he had fired the short on Wilks.
Police investigators were told that Wilks and a friend had approached a group of people including Starnes with butcher knives while shooting the “prank robbery” video for YouTube.
Startnes told the police that he was not aware that it was a prank. He shot Wilks in self defense of himself as well as others.
This investigation is ongoing and as of Saturday no charges have been placed.
