Poland’s near total ban on abortions. After the near total ban on abortions, weeks of mass demonstrations were triggered in on the streets of Warsaw, Poland.
The government of Poland is reported to unexpectedly enacted and published a law which states that “abortions may only be permitted in cases of rape, incest or when a woman’s life is in danger.”
This is said to be the first amendment of the abortion law since 1993. Women’s Strike, a human rights organization in Poland is at the forefront in opposing the new law.
Amnesty International termed the new law as “cruel judgement” stating that it was a result of “co-ordinated, systemic wave of attacks on women’s rights.”
