Three people are facing trial over LGBT sign added on a poster of a revered person.
These three human rights defenders went on trial on Wednesday in Poland for the alleged desecration and offending religious sentiment by adding their LGBT rights movement rainbow symbol to posters of a Roman Catholic icon and displaying the image on mobile toilets and garbage bins.
The activists were protesting Poland’s influential Roman Catholic church attitude towards LGBT people.
In their defense, the three accused said that St. Dominic’s Church always associated LGBT people with negative behavior and crime. They also denied any wrong doing.
If convicted the three will face up to three years in prison on charges of offending religious sentiment.
It is important to note that Poland is predominantly a Roman Catholic country.
