Barcelona have completed the signing of USMNT right-back Sergino Dest from Ajax in a deal worth up to €26.2m (£23.8m).
The 19-year-old has signed a five-year deal at the the Camp Nou with a buy-out clause set at €400M.
Barcelona were in search of a new right-back after Nelson Semedo joined Wolves in a deal worth £36.8M.
Dest joined Ajax 8 years ago and came through Ajax’s academy.
He made his first team debut for Ajax in July 2019 and went on to make 38 appearances, scoring twice.
A statement on published on Ajax’s website read: Ajax has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona for the transfer of Sergiño Dest. The Dutch-American defender’s transfer to the Spanish club is effective immediately. Dest was still under contract with Ajax until June 30, 2022. Ajax receives a transfer fee of € 21.230.000,- with the possibility of the fee rising to € 26.230.000,- through variables.”
