A total of 39 migrants were found dead in a refrigerated container in Essex and a 40-year old man, Ronan Hughes, has pleaded guilty for manslaughter of the migrants.
Ronan Hughes is from Co Armagh, Northern Ireland. The man was part of a gang accused of people-smuggling last October.
According to prosecutors, Ronan played a major role in human trafficking because he allowed his trailers and drivers to be used.
The bodies of 39 people of Vietnamese origin were discovered in a trailer of a lorry in Grays (industrial estate) on October, 2019.
An investigation revealed that the Vietnamese died of asphyxia or lack of oxygen and overheating (hypothermia) in an enclosed space.
