The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced that Deportivo La Coruna’s postponed match against Fuenlabrada will take place on Wednesday.
The final-day fixture in La Liga 2 was cancelled hours before kick-off after a number of Fuenlabrada players tested positive for Covid-19.
The other matches went ahead and results left Deportivo La Coruna consigned to relegation and Fuenlabrada were left outside the play-offs.
Deportivo threatened to take legal action and requested the results of the final-day matches to be annulled.
Depor also requested promotion and relegation to be suspended.
However, the RFEF confirmed on Monday that the Deportivo-Fuenlabrada game is scheduled for Wednesday and the play-offs will begin on August 13.
Fuenlabrada welcomed the decision and their statement read: ‘’We consider that justice has been done by being able to finish the competition on the field, something that we will do with the greatest enthusiasm.’’
