Serie A club Cagliari have appointed former Sassuolo, Roma and Sampdoria boss Eusebio Di Francesco as their new head coach after opting to cut short the stay of Walter Zenga.
Zenga was appointed during the coronavirus-enforced suspension on a contract running until June 2021. He replaced Rolando Maran.
Zenga presided over 13 matches. He won three times, drew four times and lost six times as Cagliari finished 14th.
Cagliari confirmed on Sunday that Zenga’s contract had been terminated despite guiding the club to avoid relegation.
Di Francesco, 50, has signed a two year contract with the Sardinian club.
Di Francesco was sacked by Sampdoria in October 2019 after losing six out of the first seven Serie A matches of the 2019-20 campaign.
