Barcelona defender Umtiti suffers another injury setback

Barcelona have confirmed that defender Samuel Umtiti suffered another knee injury.

The France international has suffered knee problems in the past couple of years and is back on the sidelines.

The centre-back sustained the injury on Friday.

Barcelona have not revealed the extent of damage of the Umtiti’s injury, but he’ll not play against Villarreal on Saturday.

Barcelona’s statement read: ‘’The first-team player Samuel Umtiti has a problem with his left knee and will undergo consecutive treatment.

‘’The player is not available and his recovery will dictate when he can return.’’

Umtiti was named on the bench against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, having been handed a start against Celta Vigo on Saturday.

Quique Setien’s side are now four points behind Real Madrid following Madrid’s 1-0 win over Getafe 1-0 on Thursday.
